MY CHANCE TO DANCE for ages 2.5-3

A DePass Studio original! This wonderful class is designed for children who want to dance but are not quite old enough to join a ballet class. The instructor uses games, stories, and songs to teach balance, rhythm, movement, coordination, and basic ballet steps.

PRE-BALLET

Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.

FAIRYTALE PRINCESSES for ages 3-4

Calling all princesses!  This Pre-Ballet class combines ballet fundamentals and creative movement with fairytale music, stories, and costumes.

PRE-BALLET/TUMBLING for ages 3 & 4

This class combines Pre-Ballet with an introduction to Tumbling (somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc.).  As students practice, they increase balance, coordination, and grace.

PRE-BALLET/ACRO ages 5-7

Pre-Ballet/Acro combines Pre-Ballet with beginning level Acrobatics (cartwheels, handstands, bridges, etc.).  Students develop poise, agility, balance, and confidence.

BALLET/TAP for ages 5-7

This is a combination class including ballet and tap technique.  Basic rhythm and tap choreography will be taught as well as the foundations of ballet.

BALLET/JAZZ for ages 5-7

This is a combination class including ballet and jazz technique.  Basic jazz steps and choreography will be taught as well as the foundations of ballet.

BALLET for ages 5-7

This is a Saturday morning class specially created for students and their parents who prefer a ballet technique class.

BALLET BI, BII, and BIII

Ballet technique classes for students 7+.  By participating in the first levels of traditional ballet training, students learn concentration and endurance and become proficient in fundamental dance movement and ballet technique.  The class level placement is determined by the faculty.

BALLET CI (Intermediate I) & Ballet CII (Intermediate II)

Students in these levels may take Pointe with the permission of the instructor. They may also audition for membership in the performance company Encore Dance Theatre.

BALLET for ages 8-11

This is a class for students who are new or returning to ballet. Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.

TAP for ages 4 & 5

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and an introduction to basic tap fundamentals and terminology.

TAP for ages 6-8

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, terminology, and basic tap choreography.

TAP II for ages 8-11

This class is designed to refine tap skills, while moving beyond the fundamentals of tap. Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Students will also learn different styles of tap such as Stomp, Showboat, and Rhythmic.

INTERMEDIATE TAP age 9+

This class is designed for the intermediate level tapper.  The class will focus on riffs, paradiddles, introduction to wings and pull backs, syncopated rhythms, and tap turns.

TAP III

This advanced-level technique class will focus on fast and intricate footwork.  The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations.

CHARACTER

Character class teaches traditional folk dancing from a variety of international cultures. It incorporates steps from Russian and Eastern European dances, Irish step, Spanish flamenco, and others.

CLOGGING I & CLOGGING II/III

Clogging originated in the foothills of the Georgia mountains and is often compared to Riverdance and tap.  It is a high energy, aerobic dance form that teaches dancers coordination, hard work ethic, and endurance.  Cloggers wear shoes with at least four taps on each shoe to produce a loud clear sound.

JR. HIP HOP for ages 5-7

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movements.  Jr. Hip Hop is upbeat and great for kids who like to move.

HIP HOP for ages 8-11

This class teaches rhythm, musicality, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movement.  This is an excellent class for high-energy kids who want to take a fast and fun dance class.

LYRICAL I ages 11+

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story.  Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.

LYRICAL II

This class blends the sustained controlled movement of ballet with freedom, power, and dynamics of jazz and modern dance.

MUSICAL THEATRE & TAP for ages 5-7

This is a combination class including tap technique and musical theatre.  Students will learn basic rhythm and tap steps in the first part of the class.  Students will then learn song-and-dance numbers, as well as acting and how to express emotion and portray a character through movement and facial expression.

MUSICAL THEATRE for ages 8-11

This upbeat class teaches Broadway-style choreography and show-stopping stage presence, with a focus on acting and learning song-and-dance numbers from a wide variety of musical productions, past and present.

STRETCH & RELAXATION

The goal of this class is for each student to develop, through gentle stretching, additional strength, flexibility, and balance.  This class is open to teenagers and adults.

BEGINNING ADULT BALLET

Teenagers and adults new to the dance discipline will enjoy this introduction to the practice of ballet.

ADULT BALLET II & VARIATIONS:

One hour ballet technique class followed by half an hour study of dance steps (variations) from classical and contemporary ballets. In the technique portion of class, students will continue to develop fundamentals, with a progression towards the variations to be studied. Students will learn original steps from ballet productions, with an emphasis on artistic expression and stage presence. This is a great class for any dancer wishing to experience the joy of dance, and to develop their performance skills!

HIP HOP for Teens and Adults

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, musicality, and hip hop choreography without suggestive music/movements.  Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class.  Our Hip Hop dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun.

ADULT TAP I

This class will introduce students to tap dance techniques and develop rhythmic skills, precision, and musicality.  Students will explore a variety of tap styles as they learn new steps and combinations.
