My Chance to Dance for ages 2.5 - 3

A DePass Studio original!  This wonderful class is designed for children who want to dance but are not quite old enough to join a ballet class.  The instructor uses games, stories, and songs to teach balance, rhythm, movement, coordination, and basic ballet steps.

Pre-Ballet

Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.

Fairytale Princesses for ages 3-4

Calling all princesses!  This Pre-Ballet class combines ballet fundamentals and creative movement with fairytale music, stories, and costumes.

Pre-Ballet/Tumbling for ages 3 & 4

This class combines Pre-Ballet with an introduction to Tumbling (somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc.).  As students practice, they increase balance, coordination, and grace.

Creative Movement & Tumbling for ages 4 & 5

This wonderful class is for active kids who want to dance and learn tumbling basics (somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc.). The instructor uses music, stories, and songs to teach balance, rhythm, movement, coordination.

Ballet/Acro ages 5.5-7

Ballet/Acro combines Ballet with beginning level Acrobatics (cartwheels, handstands, bridges, etc.).  Students develop poise, agility, balance, and confidence.

Ballet/Tap

This is a combination class including ballet and tap technique.  Basic rhythm and tap choreography, as well as the foundations of ballet, will be taught.

Ballet for ages 6 - 8

This is a Saturday morning class specially created for students and their parents who prefer a ballet technique class.

Ballet for ages 9 - 12

This is a class for students who are new or returning to ballet.  Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.

Ballet BI & BII

Ballet technique classes for students 7+.  By participating in the first levels of traditional ballet training, students learn concentration and endurance and become proficient in fundamental dance movement and ballet technique.  The class level placement is determined by the faculty.

Ballet CI, CI/CII & CII

Students in these Intermediate levels may take Pointe with the permission of the instructor.  They may also audition for membership in the performance company Encore Dance Theatre.

Open Adult Ballet I

Adults and teenagers will enjoy learning ballet while developing confidence, mental concentration, physical coordination and grace. This class is for students who are new to ballet, students who want to dance, but never had the opportunity, and those who have danced before and want to begin again.

Open Adult Ballet II

In this ballet class students will continue to learn and develop fundamentals, with a progression toward learning variations. Students will learn original steps from ballet productions, with an emphasis on artistic expression and stage presence. This is a great class for dancers wishing to experience the joy of dance, and to develop their performance skills!

Character

Character class teaches traditional folk dancing from a variety of international cultures.  It incorporates steps from Russian and Eastern European dances, Irish step, Spanish flamenco, and others.

Tap for ages 4 - 9

These classes teach rhythm, coordination, basic tap terminology and choreography.

Tap II

This class is designed to refine tap skills, while moving beyond the fundamentals of tap.  Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Students will also learn different styles of tap such as Stomp, Showboat, and Rhythmic.

Tap III

This technique class will focus on faster and more intricate footwork.  The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations.

Clogging

Clogging originated in the foothills of the Georgia mountains and is often compared to Riverdance and tap.  It is a high energy, aerobic dance form that teaches dancers coordination, hard work ethic, and endurance.  Cloggers wear shoes with at least four taps on each shoe to produce a loud clear sound.

Acro - Ages 5 & 6

Acrobatic classes consist of warm-ups, balance work and tumbling skills. This class is designed to give young students an opportunity to explore new physical abilities in a safe and controlled environment. Students will learn basic coordination skills while developing strength and flexibility. Students will be introduced to balance work, handstands, forward rolls, backward rolls, bridges, front walkovers and back walkovers.

Jazz/Hip Hop for ages 5 & 6

This upbeat class introduces young dancers to jazz and hip hop fundamentals and uses age-appropriate and non-suggestive music/movements.

Hip Hop for ages 7 - 9

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movements.  Jr. Hip Hop is upbeat and great for kids who like to move.

Hip Hop for ages 9 - 12

This class teaches rhythm, musicality, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movement.  This is an excellent class for high-energy kids who want to take a fast and fun dance class.

Hip Hop for Teens and Adults

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, musicality, and hip hop choreography without suggestive music/movements.  Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class.  Our Hip Hop dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun.

Step/Stomp for ages 12+

This class combines elements of jazz and tap dance styles with basic percussion techniques. Students in this innovative class will wear jazz sneakers and use their entire body to create beats and movements through tapping, stomping, stepping, drumming, and using unique objects as musical instruments. Students taking this high energy class will develop coordination and rhythm. As students progress, more advanced dance rhythmic patterns and musical improvisation skills will be taught.

Modern/Lyrical for ages 8-10

This class will blend elements of Lyrical and Modern dance, such as freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing and balance. Students will be taught modern technique while being encouraged to express their emotions and develop artistry through movement.

Lyrical I/II ages 11+

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story.  Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.

Lyrical II/III

This class blends the sustained controlled movement of ballet with freedom, power, and dynamics of jazz and modern dance.

Musical Theatre & Tap for ages 6 - 9

This is a combination class including tap technique and musical theatre.  Students will learn basic rhythm and tap steps as well as song-and-dance numbers, acting, and how to express emotion and portray a character through movement and facial expression.

Musical Theatre

These upbeat classes teach Broadway-style choreography, show-stopping stage presence, and acting, with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions, past and present. Students in 6th grade and up may audition for Encore Musical Theatre.
